Temple Night

Blake decided that he didn't want to wait to go the Temple. It has been so rewarding as a parent to see one of our sons go the Temple. It made me feel like Corey and I had done everything right in raising him, although Blake has always been a good kid. He has always wanted to do what is right, and has always had a testimony of Jesus Christ. We went through the Vernal Utah  Temple on  July 9, 2013. Both sets of Blake's Grandparents, Grandpa and Grandma McBride and Grandpa and Grandma Laing were there along with some of his aunts and uncles, Eric and Becky, Kevin and Ralene, and Spencer his cousin. I felt like Blake walked into the Temple that day  a boy, but walked out of the Temple a young man! Totally Awesome!! The Temple President asked Blake to work in the Temple until he goes on his mission. He was also set apart as a temple worker that evening. He will be working every Tuesday evening for 6 hours. What a great opportunity  for Blake to learn and grow so much spiritually. 

 

 

 

 

 

Washington DC South Mission

Blake has been called to be a Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He received his mission call to serve in the Washington DC South Mission and will be leaving for the Provo Missionary Training Center on September 18th 2013. We are so excited for him, and know that he will have many choice experiences while he serves. I will be keeping a blog of all of his experiences, to make it easy for everyone to follow and see how he is doing. Blake is going to be a great missionary! He has always been so fun to be around and so full of life. We love you so much Blake, Washington DC South Mission.....has a GREAT missionary on his way!!

Opening the call....

Blake's Mission Call came on July 3, 2013. The Post office actually called Corey at work at about 6:45 in the morning  and told him that they had it there and we could come down and pick it up, or they would just deliver it with the mail. Blake was just walking out the door for a busy day at work, so we decided to just have the mailman deliver it. We had our family and a few friends come over at 7:30 that evening to watch him open it. There was so much excitement in the air with everyone making their guesses as to where Blake would serve. "Dear Elder Laing, You are hereby called to serve as a missionary of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. You are assigned to labor in the Washington DC South Mission! There were lot's of cheers. I Love this picture of Blake and his cousin Spencer. They will be serving at the same time, Spencer is going to Lima Peru. They were going through Blake's mission book of things that he needs to take with him . What an exciting time for these to valiant young men!
